Cativo
Cativo first experienced music in the shape of Italian arias und folksongs from Naples, his father's hometown. Further steps of his musical self-definition were EBM, Industrial, and Techno. Between 1988 and 1995, groups like Front Line Assembly, Ministry, Joey Beltram, and KFMDM mainly inspired Cativo.
Having worked in a record store from 1992 to 1995, Cativo gradually started to produce his first own tracks and to perform as a DJ .
His good friend LELONEK (ANOKHA), living in London, got him in touch with Drum & Bass. The amazing energy of this special kind of dance music infected him with ease. As a matter of fact, Cativo reanimated the legendary 'Noize Club' (named after the incredibly loud sound system) of his favorite club, Würzburg's Airport, being one of the bigest clubs in Germany.
In 1999, leading German electronic label Force Inc. signed him. His releases caught the attention of both European and American press, being praised for their uncompromising style and uniqueness.
Cativo is looking back at some really busy years, yet even busier to come - the man of the german drum'n'bass scene. Apart from bringing out several productions and touring as a dj, founding his own label ASSIMILATE REC. he is managing a busy club night ( list of guest djs for these events
: hype, krust, bukem, grooverider, jonny l, Bad.Company., Optical to name just a few.)
He is a resident Dj for a club in Würzburg, Nürnberg and for the 'Hoch10'- Events in Hamburg.
Although CATIVO likes his beats and bass hard and heavy he is versatile
enough to mix in lighter, melodious tunes to make his sets easy to digest.
Not only the unique style of his sets but his high quality productions seem
to hit the right spot as his tunes are being played regularly on air by
legendary BBC Radio 1 dj John Peel.
A successful proof of CATIVOS talent is his recently released mix cd 'The Incredible New School of German D&B'. Cativo is one of the leading heads of the 'German D&B Movement' , an outstanding DJ, known for his hard and driving sets excellent mixing of the newest trax from the UK , Germany & the rest of the world.
Nphect & Dizplay
Cologne/Germany based Sebastian and Henrik Wild aka nphect & dizplay collaborate as a drum’n'bass producer team since early 2002. Both coming from a band related background, they quickly found their own definition of sound, which is mainly based on raw & harsh Neurofunk, but also contains rave and/or pop related elements, often in form of uplifting vocals. To describe their style, n&d like to cite early Stakka & Skynet, Noisia+Phace with a hint of John B.
Kaidar
Alexander Friedrich, popularly known as DJ Kaidar, was born in Rostock, Germany, in 1978. After listening mainly to techno and hardcore sounds, he got his hands and ears on some Jungle-tapes in 1994, which inspired him to investigate further into the genre. At this early stage he also started experimenting with tracker programs on his Amiga-PC, getting a first idea of digital music-production. He then purchased his first vinyls in 1995 and ,one year later, went to go out there and give the people what they truly need progressive and energetic Drum & Bass & Jungle-styles, selected by Kaidar!
He played at various events, has been resident at the legendary 'Bass Delight's' Club and organized a number of events himself. His steady growing popularity also enabled him to play various shows in cities like Chemnitz and Berlin. He is one of the residents of the popular 'Fully Loaded' series at the unique Club-Ship 'MS Stubnitz' in his hometown Rostock.
Over the years Kaidar has also continuously intensified his production-efforts. The results of his work have been highly appreciated by fans and critics likewise and even got airplay on British radio station BBC-1Xtra. So, watch out for Kaidars upcoming releases and check his live-sets anytime you have the chance to.
Nize5ive & Pitch'n'Sulphur
Tobias Jakubczyk aka Nize5ive is a Producer and a Dj, born 1983 in Plauen/ Germany. He raised up in a musical family and with the age of 7 he learned to play the piano for several years. In the late 90s he discovered Hip Hop and electronic music for himself. He started searching for cds and records from artists like Beasty Boys, EPMD, The Prodigy, Massive Attack and Chemical Brothers. He also began mixing and producing beats in various styles. His friend and later his producing partner Pitch'n'Sulphur showed and addicted him to Drum and Bass and Jungle music in 2000. Since 2003 they work produce together. Furthermore Nize5ive collaborates with Miss Redflower and C-Fremen on several projects which will be released in 2008.
Jakob Thomser aka Pitch'n'Sulphur, born 1982 in Dresden/Ger., started playing the violin at the tender age of 3 1/2 years, piano at the age of 7 and with 14 he began producing electronical music on his PC . Influenced by friends he soon got involved into the Drum and Bass scene, since 1999 he presents it as a Dj as well. His Influences range from all kind of electronic music via rocking stuff from the seventies to classical music. In 2006 he started to even concentrate more on his passion for music by beginning to study percussion at the music college in Leipzig/Ger. Since 2003 they work together in the studio and on the turntables as well, and present both skills on partys all over Germany. In January 2007 Nize5ive and Pitch'n'Sulphur released their first tunes on No!Breaks Recordings, a Berlin-based label. Their following release on New York's Mindsaw Recordings (digital) was a further dark touched tune for the heads of harder Drum and Bass sound. Additionally they did remixes for artists like Bad Matter & Scary. For the future they will continue building up their own diverse sound of Drum and Bass.
